Read the guide ↓01 / Sourcing brief
Give the project
a clear starting point.
Begin with the intended customer experience, product category and target market. Separate essential requirements from preferences so that platform alternatives can be evaluated.
- Business context: company, channel and destination markets.
- Product: category, intended use, size and key functions.
- Electrical requirements: destination voltage and plug configuration.
- Positioning: intended retail tier and feature priorities.
- Commercial plan: first-order estimate, annual demand and launch timing.
- Development: appearance changes, tooling or new functionality.
If quantities or timing are still being developed, say so. An early-stage concept can still be reviewed for category fit.
02 / Platform comparison
Compare the same scope.
| Compare | Questions to resolve |
|---|---|
| Product configuration | Are the plate set, controls, materials and accessories equivalent? |
| Electrical version | Do the power rating, voltage and intended destination match? |
| Verification | Which tests and model documentation are included in the scope? |
| Packaging | Are artwork, instructions, protective packaging and carton requirements aligned? |
| Development work | What changes, tooling and sample iterations are required? |
| Commercial terms | Are order volume, delivery basis and timing being compared consistently? |
03 / Documentation
Request the relevant
technical package.
